The French repairability index gives each model a score from 0 to 10, and data.gouv.fr publishes all scores as an open dataset.
The highest score there goes to 14 dishwashers (9.9), 7 vacuum cleaners (9.9) and 39 laptops (10). These three categories have full rankings; lawn mowers and pressure washers share one table.

Where points are lost

Lawn mowers and pressure washers
The dataset holds only 20 electric lawn mowers and pressure washers, 16 from Bosch and 4 from ADEO SERVICES. That is too few for separate rankings, so the table lists them all by score.

Washing machines, TVs and smartphones
In France, TVs have carried the indice de durabilité instead of the repairability index since 8 January 2025, and washing machines since 8 April 2025. Smartphones have had no French index since 7 July 2025. The dataset still holds 92 washing machine entries and 6 smartphone entries with old scores; they are not in the repairability rankings; TVs and washing machines have their own rankings by the durability index: TVs and washing machines (the French index for sellers).
Smartphones and tablets have carried the EU repairability class on the energy label since 20 June 2025 (Regulation (EU) 2023/1669). A ranking by this class will follow once search access to EPREL is granted. For a single model, the EPREL lookup finds the class.
How the rankings are made
Models are sorted by the French repairability index score as published by the supplier; RepairInfoEU adds no rating of its own. Each ranking covers all models of its category in the consolidated dataset on data.gouv.fr after cleaning (invalid barcodes and older calculations removed). The dataset is as of 19 October 2026 and is reloaded with every update of this website. The score is a French national score, not an EU repairability class, and the rankings are not official. Cleaning, suppliers compared and limits are set out on each ranking, for example for dishwashers.

Frequently asked questions
Which appliances are the most repairable?
In the French repairability index, 39 laptops score 10; the highest score is 9.9 for dishwashers and 9.9 for vacuum cleaners (as of 19 October 2026). Suppliers report the scores themselves; RepairInfoEU only sorts them and adds no rating.
What is the French repairability index?
A score from 0 to 10 that must be shown next to the price when certain appliances are sold in France (Article L. 541-9-2 of the Code de l’environnement). It combines five criteria: documentation, ease of disassembly, availability of spare parts, their price and one criterion per product type. It is not an EU repairability score.
Why are smartphones and washing machines missing?
In France, washing machines and TVs now carry the indice de durabilité. Since 20 June 2025, smartphones and tablets have carried the EU repairability class (A to E) on the energy label; the EPREL lookup shows the class of a model.
Where do appliances lose the most points?
On average across the sub-scores (our own calculation): dishwashers on “Documentation” (15.6 out of 20), vacuum cleaners on “Spare parts price” (15.9 out of 20), laptops on “Ease of disassembly” (17.9 out of 20). Each of the five criteria is worth at most 20 points.
