Lawn mowers and pressure washers have no EU repairability class. Since 27 September 2026, sellers to EU consumers must show before purchase the producer’s information on spare parts, manuals and repair restrictions, where the producer makes it available (Article 6(1)(v) of Directive 2011/83/EU as amended by Directive (EU) 2024/825).
France applies its repairability index to electric lawn mowers and pressure washers. Our spare parts dataset contains no ecodesign period for either.
At a glance
| Topic | What applies |
|---|---|
| EU repairability class | no; repair information where the producer makes it available |
| Spare parts (ecodesign) | none in our dataset: none of the ecodesign regulations analysed there covers lawn mowers or pressure washers |
| Right to repair (Annex II) | no, neither is listed in Annex II of Directive (EU) 2024/1799 |
| French index | indice de réparabilité for electric lawn mowers (corded, battery, robot) and pressure washers (ministry list as of 8 July 2025) |

No EU period, but French data
Lawn mowers and pressure washers are subject to less EU law than household appliances. None of the ecodesign regulations in our spare parts periods dataset covers them, and Annex II of Directive (EU) 2024/1799 does not list them, so that directive places no repair duty on their manufacturers. Your legal guarantee as the seller is not affected; if the customer chooses repair under it, the liability period is extended once by twelve months.
France has covered both groups. Electric lawn mowers and pressure washers are among the five categories of the indice de réparabilité. Manufacturers and importers must give sellers the score and its parameters, and many of the datasets appear on data.gouv.fr. The score out of ten combines five criteria, including documentation, ease of disassembly and spare parts availability. It is French law, not an EU repairability score.
What goes on the product page
With garden equipment it is often a handful of parts customers actually ask for: blade, battery, charger and grass box, or nozzles, hose and gun for a pressure washer. A block for a battery mower can look like this:
Example: battery lawn mower RM 36 (model and prices invented)
Repair & spare parts
- Spare parts: blade, battery, charger and grass box from the manufacturer’s parts shop (link), available until at least 2031
- Estimated cost: blade €24, battery €129
- Manuals: operating manual with maintenance and blade replacement (link)
- Repair restrictions: motor and control unit only through the manufacturer’s service partners

Spare parts information explains what each of the five points means.
Where the information comes from
The free barcode check looks up the EAN in the French data and shows, where stated, spare parts with years, delivery time and a documentation link. Where a model is missing, the manufacturer request asks for all five points. For stores not on Shopify, the HTML snippet builds the block.
On Shopify, the RepairInfoEU app matches barcodes with the French dataset, per product on Essential and for the whole catalogue on Pro. For brands without French data, Pro suggests repair portals from the manufacturer directory. The French repairability index explains what applies when you sell into France.
Frequently asked questions
Does the rule cover petrol lawn mowers?
Yes. The repair information rule applies to all goods without an EU repairability score, whatever the drive. Only the French index is limited to electric mowers.
What about robot mowers?
On the product page, the same as for other mowers: the producer’s repair information where it makes it available. In France, robot mowers count as electric lawn mowers under the repairability index.
May I use the French data in stores outside France?
That is open. The data may be producer information, but it comes from whoever placed the product on the French market, which is not always the manufacturer. RepairInfoEU only takes over spare parts years and manuals once you confirm them; that is a decision of the app.
