Household local space heaters such as portable electric heaters, fan heaters and storage heaters have no EU repairability class. Since 27 September 2026, sellers to EU consumers must show before purchase the producer’s information on spare parts, manuals and repair restrictions, where the producer makes it available (Article 6(1)(v) of Directive 2011/83/EU as amended by Directive (EU) 2024/825).
For models with units placed on the market from 1 July 2025, Regulation (EU) 2024/1103 requires spare parts until at least ten years after the last unit and delivery within ten working days.

What Regulation (EU) 2024/1103 requires
The parts lists depend on the type of heater. For portable electric heaters they include controls, room thermostat, the motor in fan models, circuit boards, displays or status indicators, impellers, control sensors, knobs and switches; storage heaters add heating elements, safety switches and connecting cables, among others. These parts go to professional repairers from 1 July 2025 or two years after the first unit, whichever is later. For end users, only the remote control must be available. Both apply until at least ten years after the last unit. Delivery within ten working days is faster than for washing machines or refrigerators. Manufacturers must also publish indicative pre-tax spare parts prices and provide free software and firmware updates for at least ten years.
The rules cover models with units placed on the market from 1 July 2025. A model with no unit placed on the market on or after that date falls outside them; the repair information rule still applies to whatever its producer gives you. The duties fall on the manufacturer and give your customers no claim.

The manufacturer’s indicative prices are an obvious source for the estimated cost. Spare parts information explains each of the five points.
Right to repair: entry No. 11 since 2026
Delegated Directive (EU) 2026/74 added household local space heaters as the eleventh entry in Annex II of Directive (EU) 2024/1799, to be applied from 31 July 2026. For these heaters, the manufacturer must repair at the consumer’s request within the scope of the ecodesign regulation. Member states transpose the annex into national law, and in Germany it is open whether the existing reference in § 479a BGB already covers the new entry. The information in your store does not depend on this; it follows from Directive (EU) 2024/825. Right to repair or EmpCo? sets the two rules apart.
Where the information comes from
France has no index for heaters, so there is no barcode data. The sources are the manufacturer’s documents, price list and parts portal; the free manufacturer request asks for what is missing. On the Pro plan, the Shopify app RepairInfoEU suggests repair portal and spare parts shop from a directory of 49 brands and marks open requests as due after 14 days. The spare parts periods dataset covers every group.
Frequently asked questions
Are fan heaters covered by Regulation (EU) 2024/1103?
Yes. The parts list for portable electric heaters expressly names the motor in models with a fan.
Do I have to list the remote control as a spare part?
If the producer gives you its availability, price or ordering route, yes. It is the only part the regulation also requires for end users.
Does a French repairability index apply to heaters?
No, heaters are not on the French list. The repair information rule of Directive (EU) 2024/825 applies to them as to other goods.
